Details of school

As the saying goes..."the only constant is change".
Well, there's always changes, including our schedule for the trip. Hahahaha...

Up to this moment, there are TWO confirmed ones going on the trip (Wendy and me).
FOUR others have expressed interest.
The tentative date for the trip is now brought forward.
Latest update: 18 (Fri) - 27 (Sun) Dec 09.
(For working adults & non-teachers, this would mean that you would need 5 days of leave.
Interested volunteers, shall we confirmed by end of sep? =)

Based on my understanding from the coordinator (aka resort manager) in Nepal, in this school we are going, there are 5 levels/ standards. Ranging from 6 - 12 years old kids. One class per level, 25-30 students per class. This adds up to about 150 students in the school.
The school functions from Sun to Fri. Everyday sch starts at 10am and ends at 4pm. Except on Fri, lesson ends at 1pm.
(Before the kids in singapore start to scream in jealousy and stamp your foot grudgingly, pls be reminded that most of the Nepalese kids have to first do farming, household chores and walk miles to attend school.)

Based on our tentative schedule, we would be able to provide 5.5 days of teaching (assuming no hol for xmas). As told by the coordinator too, we would have the option to decide the duration of each lesson. Given this, my initial proposal will be to conduct a 1.5~2hrs lesson for each class, 2 classes per day. This is based on the assumption that only 2 of us are going, i.e. Wendy and me. If we have more people going, we would be able to do more for each day, and eventually more kids will benefit!

Had also recieved an email from an ex-colleague, of which it is a piece of good news to us! A group of students would be assisting us in a collection drive for resources, and raising awareness on the lack of education opportunities in other parts of the world. Though this is a small project we are beginning with, hopefully it would be extended to other parts of the world in time to come, and with more supporters for the effort.
